unpopular culture

I' m going to go with video games and watching TV. They have both a negative and positive effect on people, http://www.raisesmartkid.com/3-to-6-years-old/4-articles/34-the-good-and-bad-effects-of-video-games. They can be helpful in some situation and they can also be blamed on some bad behavior in some people.Sometimes it is just a way for people to take out aggression, but some may take it to far. They say it can be just a waste of time. You become less social, spending to much time inside by yourself. It effects what kids learn and how they learn. They can teach kids wrong values and bad language. Video games are just a waste of time in my opinion. They can also create health problems, obesity is one example. Children need to get outside and learn and experience new things not hang out in front of a screen for hours on end. It's just not the way it should be, unless it is for learning purposes.
Well, upon further research of the study on whether or not sitting in front of a screen is linked to obesity is touch and go. The evidence is sketchy at best. Some say that kids who sit around and watch TV all day or play video games tend to also, sit around and snack all day. Which in turn makes them more likely to gain weight.
The same can be said about violence and sitting in front of a screen, whether it be playing video games or watching TV. Either way, I still think that it's just not healthy to spend so much time in front of a screen. Kids should learn at a young age to be more active, to get out and explore, exercise. It can be fun, take for example the program Play60 that the NFL program provides for our youth. Now that's a great idea.
As it looks, the evidence for these things happening to our youth is still up for debate, some things do connect the dots. So, we should take into consideration our youth and get them away from the screens more and out into the world. I really get a kick out of this video. She doesn't appear to be obese or violent, but, her social outlook is really messed up.

  1. I do believe as well that violent video games, and violent movies could lead to some disturbing behavior. I feel that they tend to help develop all kinds of anti-social disorders, along with depression, anxiety and isolation. I'm from the mind set of kill your t.v. Couch Surfing is not a sport!!
